Your Newborn photo session will capture all the details of your newest family member, along with mom/dad/siblings of the immediate family. I strive to capture the love and amazement of this tiny newborn baby through your eyes, and surroundings. I suggest in-home sessions, as my lifestyle/documentary type approach really allows comfort for the new mom and baby, as well as capturing the environment of the time. (dont worry if youre thinking your home isnt perfect enough- thats not what we want anyway- We want to remember your real life!) If you would rather be outdoors we can discuss that as an option- but comfort for mom and baby is number one, and there's no place like home!
These are quiet sessions that are led by baby- we will work with his/her needs- sleeping, eating, crying, changing. (Its real life!), snacks for siblings... I like to keep a relaxed atmosphere, and the flow of the session will depend on how the baby is feeling. I dont to use much in the way of props- instead i choose natural posing, laying on a safe surface (such as a bed), and will use a selection of swaddle blankets, or background blankets. I find that keeping it simple gives more of a timeless feel. But I do like to incorporate items that are important to the family. A hand-me-down blanket, or favorite well loved stuffed animal, etc, are all wonderful things to document in photos!
Many poses will involve mom and/or dad holding the baby or laying with the baby in various ways. I will utilize the natural light available in your home- windows, and even doors can be just perfect! i usually schedule outdoor sessions towards the end of the day, but since your newborn session will most likely be in your home, morning or late afternoon can work. Anytime is a great time to photograph your little one- truly!- but its really great to capture them within the first few weeks while they are still really dreamy and sleepy- and so tiny! I like to start to get to know you by sending a 10 question "Questionnaire" by email. I just ask some questions to learn about you, what you and your partner/family like to do in your free time, your due date, etc. This gives us a chance to communicate and for you to get all the information you are looking for in order to decide to book your session. After scheduling your session, I will send a "What to Wear Guide filled with tips and ideas for easy, comfy outfit ideas to help you look and feel the best in your photos. It includes suggestions for what to wear, and how to (lightly) prepare your home space. I love to include Dads and siblings on this part, as mom is really busy with that new baby! We will talk back and forth, and I am always available to answer questions. My goal is to make it super easy for you (and your new baby!) to look and feel your best in your photos!
So what do you get for your investment? A one hour family photo shoot is $150 for the session, with 2 options for photo packages- $50 for 25 digital images, or $100 for a full gallery, ranging from about 70-80 images. Sessions can be longer, for an additional investment. This option is necessary if there will be more than 1 outfit change, or if we have certain activities planned or multiple locations. After the day of the photo session, i will get to work editing your final photo gallery. You will receive your collection of images delivered to you in both a private online gallery, as well as on a USB flash drive. I have a 2 week turn around time after the day of the session for delivering the online gallery. When the gallery is ready you will get an email with a link that takes you right to them. These photos can be easily shared online right from the gallery! I think most of the fun is actually seeing photos in print, so i love to give a framed 8x10 of your choice. You can choose to download your online photos immediately, or wait to get the USB flash drive that i deliver to you along with the framed 8x10.

I also take bookings for "Fresh 48" sessions, where I come to you and baby with in the first 2 days of baby's birth! These sessions take place wherever you are- Hospital, birthing center or home. To have the details captured of your brand new baby is capturing a moment in time- as they change dramatically in even the first week as he/she fills out! I make it super easy for you, as you have other things to attend to (like a new baby!). I highlight the beauty, love and connection forming between you and your new one by focusing on details, environment, and joy instead of styled portraits- more documentary geared.
